Christmas Tags

This post is a tad over due. Back in November I created a few tags  for The Paperie to share on their blog during the month of December. And I totally forgot to share them here, so finally, here they are.

This tag is inspired by Christy Tomlinson’s Boot Girl series. I simply hand drew the picture and painted it with watercolour crayons and watercolour pencils.

This is my woodland Christmas fairy. She is hand drawn and painted using acrylic paint, watercolour pencils and Gelatos. The berry headpiece is a Kaisercraft rub on.

This tag’s background was created with Distress Stain. Next I used Distress Ink to stamp the pattern using a Dina Wakley stamp. For the small stars I mixed some gold Distress Paint in Art Basic 3D Gloss Gel, and swiped it through a stencil. The big star is simply cardstock painted with the Distress Paint. The sentiment is a Kaisercraft stamp.

For this tag I first stamped the Tim Holtz blueprint stamp and embossed it with Hero Arts white embossing powder. Then I used Distress Ink for the background. The sentiment is a Kaisercraft stamp. To finish it off I used the Fuse tool to enclose the whole tag with mica flakes and glitter.

To create this tag, I first painted it with black gesso. Next I dabbed white gesso over it, letting some spots of the black show through. Then I added colour using Gelatos. The sentiment is a Kaisercraft stamp, embossed with gold embossing poweder. The stars are wood veneer covered with gold embossing powder. The white spots and edging was done with a white paint Sharpie marker.

Here is my take on the sketch. I used a picture of my daughter dressed up for her dance recital, called “On With The Shoe”. Cute, right?!KarenYoung #118

I had some messy fun with the background using water color paper, water color paint and Distress Stain. I finished it off with random stamping.  Oh, and how cute is that chipboard leaf from Creative Embellishments?! I love how it is heart shaped.

Want to see more DT art work? Head on over to Sketchabilities for the full DT reveal!

Hello–Scrap & Music

I wanted to share a layout that I did based on a sketch from the Scrap & Music blog. Scrap & Music is a sketch blog that I have been following for a little while now, but this is the first time I’ve participated in one of their challenges. They have a unique spin on their sketch challenges by basing them on a song, and the idea is to use lyrics from that song as your title.

The current song is Suspicious Minds, by Elvis Presley. This is the sketch, and my take on it:

I love this picture of my daughter and hubby searching for special rocks on our first trip to the beach this year.

For the background I used gel medium through a Heidi Swapp stencil. Once it was dry I painted over the pattern with water colour paint, and then did some random stamping.

Thanks for stopping by!

Paperie December Daily Kit Sneak Peeks!

The Paperie has put together a special Christmas kit this year, specifically designed with December Daily in mind. Read and see more about it on the Paperie blog <here>.

I was asked to be a guest designer for the kit so I was lucky enough to get it in advance and play! And let me tell you, what a fun kit to work with-  tons of possibilities and so versatile!  Even if you have no plans on doing a December Daily album, it is great for all kinds of Christmas projects, like layouts, mini albums, cards, tags and more! That’s exactly what I used the kit for, and here are sneak peeks of some of my projects.
