Sketches in Thyme #184

Today I am sharing my take on sketch 184, by Shawn Lahr, over at Sketches in Thyme.

I simplified it a bit, but the main elements are there. I did like the push to use four photos- I rarely do that!

Head on over to the Sketches in Thyme to check out this months’ prize, more info on how to play along and other design team layouts for inspiration!

Christmas Tags

This post is a tad over due. Back in November I created a few tags  for The Paperie to share on their blog during the month of December. And I totally forgot to share them here, so finally, here they are.

This tag is inspired by Christy Tomlinson’s Boot Girl series. I simply hand drew the picture and painted it with watercolour crayons and watercolour pencils.

This is my woodland Christmas fairy. She is hand drawn and painted using acrylic paint, watercolour pencils and Gelatos. The berry headpiece is a Kaisercraft rub on.

This tag’s background was created with Distress Stain. Next I used Distress Ink to stamp the pattern using a Dina Wakley stamp. For the small stars I mixed some gold Distress Paint in Art Basic 3D Gloss Gel, and swiped it through a stencil. The big star is simply cardstock painted with the Distress Paint. The sentiment is a Kaisercraft stamp.

For this tag I first stamped the Tim Holtz blueprint stamp and embossed it with Hero Arts white embossing powder. Then I used Distress Ink for the background. The sentiment is a Kaisercraft stamp. To finish it off I used the Fuse tool to enclose the whole tag with mica flakes and glitter.

To create this tag, I first painted it with black gesso. Next I dabbed white gesso over it, letting some spots of the black show through. Then I added colour using Gelatos. The sentiment is a Kaisercraft stamp, embossed with gold embossing poweder. The stars are wood veneer covered with gold embossing powder. The white spots and edging was done with a white paint Sharpie marker.

Last weekend I had a wonderful time with wonderful friends at the Fall Paperie Retreat. Not only was it great for relaxing and spending time with friends, but it was also great for rekindling my scrapbooking mojo. Today I am sharing one of the layouts I had fun creating there.

I used the October challenge at Words & Paintery as inspiration for this one.

Sketches in Thyme- Sketch #172

Here is sketch #172, by Brenda Ragsdale.

It’s not often that I go plain and simple, but that’s the way I went with this one.

I love doing Fall pages and those Simple Stories Sweater Weather die cuts and embellishments made it super easy! I didn’t even add any inkiness… what?! I’m pleading temporary insanity. LOL

If you play along with any of the sketches this month at Sketches in Thyme, you have the chance to win a great prize, so head on over to the blog for more details!

Believe All Things Are Possible

Today I am excited to share my latest layout, that I created to play along with the November challenge over at 13 Arts.

Their mood board is just beautiful and I found it very inspiring. I knew I wanted to use a black background. Then I decided to try to mimic the look of the sky in the second picture, and use the word ‘believe’.

Honestly, it was so fun to make and I love the result, so, win, win!
